Afternoon at the quay

After a day and half of heavy rain, I was surprised to see the sun break through, albeit for a few brief hours this afternoon. I’d taken three members of my “Fan Club”to Bournemouth Airport for their flight to Spain for a long girlie weekend in Spain and I had initially thought about taken my full camera kit and heading down to Corfe Castle and Swanage for the rest of the afternoon and evening but even when we’d left home it was still raining, so I decided not to bother with it. Besides, with cases full of hair straighteners and dryers and enough clothes for a month, I thought that there would be little room for my camera stuff so I made do with my little Panasonic. I headed down to Christchurch Quay and had a few hours through listening to the brass band concert at bandstand and enjoying the sun.

Christchurch Priory

Christchurch Priory

Today, there was a wedding omn the Priory; a wonderful venue for such an event. I’m planning to photograph the inside of the Priory at some point; I have agreement in principle and I just need to firm up on the details.

Abandoned!

Seen on a recent walk in the Hawkley, Hamsphire, area. Visitors to the countryside (”townies”) are often accused if leaving a mess in the countryside, often with good reason. However, those who make a living for the countryside, farmers, for example, are often responsible, as this scerne shows! This is one of two tractors just left to rot.

The 40th Great Dorset Steam Fair

The 40th anniversary of the Great Dorset Steam Fair has just one more day to run. It was blessed with good weather; dry but overcast which is good; it encourages people out but it;s not that good for the beach!

Leaving Lymington

I’d been planning a day out on the Isle of Wight to do some walking for some time now. I never got across to the island last year, so I was determined to get across this year for a day’s walking.

Life’s a beach…

On a recent visit to Birmingham, I was very surprised to come across a very sandy beach! You can’t get that much further from the sea than you can in Birmingham (actually, the furthest point is Coton in The Elms, Derbyshire.) It would seem that Birmingham City Council thought that it would be a good idea to have a beach for the summer and the Emirates airlines provided the sponsorship.
